Yahritza Y Su Esencia, Manuel Turizo, Julian Turizo & More Win Big At SESAC Latina Music Awards 2024

SESAC Latina celebrated its 30th anniversary of representing the most successful and influential songwriters in the world at the annual SESAC Latina Music Awards taking place at the historic The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.

During this exclusive celebration, SESAC Latina honored the creative talent and accomplishments of its affiliated songwriters and publishers. SESAC Performing Rights Chief Creative Officer, Sam Kling opened the evening while awards were presented by Scott Jungmichel, President, SESAC Performing Rights, Celeste Zendejas, Senior Vice President of SESAC Latina, and Ana Rocha, Director of Creative Services.

Leila Cobo, Chief Content Officer Latin/Español for Billboard Magazine, congratulated SESAC Latina for its 30-year anniversary and introduced a special video for this celebration.

Prominent singer-songwriter and Latin GRAMMY® nominee Salvador Aponte was recognized as Regional Mexican Songwriter of the Year for the first time.  Manuel Turizo and Julian Turizo were named Pop Latin Rhythm - Songwriters of the Year, marking the first time the brothers took home the award together.

The SESAC Latina Award for Regional Mexican - Song of the Year went to “Frágil”, written by Yahritza Martínez, recorded by Yahritza y Su Esencia and Grupo Frontera. Pop/Latin Rhythm - Song of the Year went to “El Merengue”, written by Manuel Turizo and Julián Turizo, recorded by Marshmello and Manuel Turizo.

Pop/Latin Rhythm - Publisher of the Year was awarded to Sony Music Publishing for the ninth consecutive year, while Regional Mexican - Publisher of the Year –was given to Universal Music Publishing.

The crowd was treated to an incredible performance from Intocable, headed by its vocalist, songwriter, and SESAC Latina affiliate Ricky Muñoz. Another high point of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious SESAC Legacy Award to Latin GRAMMY award winner Luciano Luna. Luna’s career has cemented him as one of the most distinguished songwriters of the generation, who has sustained growth and success through the years and has contributed immensely to Latin music.

Throughout the evening, SESAC executives gave a special thanks to the event’s official sponsors, City National Bank and Rossi, P.C., and to TNT Agency for providing their outstanding makeup services.
