Peso Pluma Delivers Iconic Coachella Weekend Two Performance

Last night the face of musica Mexicana - Peso Pluma - lit up the iconic Coachella mainstage for the second weekend in a row delivering a power-packed, emotive, and unmatched performance inclusive of a slightly modified setlist which included five special guests. Once again opening his set with cinematic images inclusive of the late Chalino Sanchez and reinforcing his position about Mexican culture, Morgan Freeman narrated sentiments to echo Peso’s legacy in the controversial genre and the world he was born into. 

Peso Pluma kicked off his weekend two set, alongside eight musicians, with immense Mexican pride singing “Rubicon,” which spent 12 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and is one of the fan favorites from his GRAMMY® Award-winning album “Genesis,” followed by “Rosa Pastel” where he welcomed his first guest star of the night, Double P Records artist and his longtime friend Jasiel Nuñez. The King of Corridos continued with “Nueva Vida,” “Las Morras,” “El Gavilan,” “El Gavilan II” and “PRC,” further demonstrating his one-of-a-kind dynamic energy, charisma and unique charm that has continued to catapulted him into superstardom. 

Transitioning into his Reggaeton segment, flawlessly moving between genres and further cementing his status as one of the most dynamic artists of the decade, he revealed his second surprise guest of the evening - Ryan Castro- for an unbelievable performance of their Billboard hit track “Quema,” followed by a performance of hit song “Qlona” which debuted last year with Karol G and a new addition to this week’s set list. Peso Pluma went on to perform one of his newest hits “Humo,” bringing out Reggaeton godfather Chencho Corleone and then transitioning into a steamy performance of “Bellakeo” with special guest and collaborator Anitta. 

Diving back into his corrido roots, he continued with “La People II” and “AMG,” and went on the reveal Eslabon Armado who joined Peso on stage to perform the anthem of 2023 “Ella Baila Sola,” which was als named Rolling Stone’s song of the year (2023). He continued with fan favorite “Lady Gaga,” which dominated the Billboard Hot Latin Songs at number one for two consecutive weeks, bringing back the string instruments as first seen at the 2023 MTV VMAs and honoring Mexican greats including Carlos y José, Chalino Sánchez, Miguel y Miguel, Joan Sebastián, Ramón Ayala, El Halcón de la Sierra, Ramón Massiaca, Tucanes de Tijuana, Los Intocables Del Norte, Canelos de Durango, Los Profetas Del Norte, Alegres del Barranco, Sergio Vega, Valentín Elizalde, Jenni Rivera, Gerardo Ortiz, Alfredo Olivas, Grupo Cartel, Hijos de Barrón, Ariel Camacho, Los Plebes Del Rancho, Julián Mercado, Codiciado, Legado 7, Natanael Cano, Junior H, Eslabón Armado and of course himself, Peso Pluma. 

Closing out his Coachella weekend two set, Peso Pluma brought out his final special guest of the evening, DJ Snake, to perform their newest track and electrifying anthem “Teka” igniting the crowd and further proving why Peso Pluma is one of the greatest artists of his time.
