After much anticipation, musica Mexicana sensation Xavi performed for the first time at the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 2.

Currently on his Poco A Poco Tour, this was the first of two sold-out shows for the 19-year-old in the city of angels. He kicked off his debut tour just a few days ago in Mexico. He will travel around the U.S. to 25 cities, including Las Vegas, Portland, Boise, El Paso, Phoenix, Bakersfield, Salt Lake City, Oklahoma, and many more.

As a representative of a new wave of young artists in the regional Mexican world, Xavi brings a refreshing sound that is a unique blend of the two cultures he grew up in Mexican and American. This fusion of influences not only sets his music apart, but also makes it a compelling and intriguing mix that resonates with a diverse audience.

After releasing music independently, the Phoenix-born artist caught the attention of Interscope’s executives, who discovered him through social media. The rest is history: he is developing a successful musical career hand in hand with one of the most essential labels in global music.

When I interviewed Xavi in September 2023, he expressed his love for music started from a very young age, and now, he is taking the music world by storm in just a short amount of time.

As an attendee of Xavi's first Los Angeles show, I witnessed his fans' excitement and anticipation. They eagerly waited several hours before the venue's doors opened at 7 p.m., the line of fans wrapping around the building. Once the doors opened, they swiftly made their way inside, eagerly awaiting the show's start.

Just around 8 p.m., the show started with Estevie, the special guest opening act. The Los Angeles singer focuses on cumbia and regional Mexican-Latin pop music. She performed songs such as "Como Yo" and "La Cumbia del Cucuy."

Then Xavi hit the stage at around 9 p.m., and hundreds of fans excitedly chanted his lyrics and screamed his name. He started his show with his smash hit "Poco A Poco," a collaboration song he dropped last year with Los Dareyes de la Sierra.

Quickly rushing on stage, Xavi greeted his fans and thanked them for being there on such a special night. "It's a blessing to be here today with all of you and share this special night, said Xavi to his fans who packed the venue.

Other songs Xavi performed were "Amigos Con Derechos," "Sin Pagar Renta," "Corazon De Piedra," "La Victima," "Mode DND," "Ya Te Supere" with Tony Aguirre (which has yet to be released on digital platforms) and "La Victima" and "La Diabla" not once but twice with a young fan and to close out his show. He also performed songs from his first EP, My Mom’s Playlist, which are covers of songs he grew up listening to thanks to his mom.

Xavi has mastered the formula of making a significant hit in such a short time. He might not have a full-length album yet, but every song he's come out with has grown in popularity, leaving fans wanting more.

Watching Xavi on stage pour his heart out, alongside his fans at his Los Angeles show was truly beautiful. He has a bright future, and I'm excited to continue seeing Xavi's success flourish into the global superstar he will be.

Felicidades Xavi! In honor of the Poco A Poco Tour, here are some of my favorite moments from his LA show.
