Ryan Castro Announces Debut Album “El Cantante Del Ghetto”

Ryan Castro, the leader of the new generation of Reggaeton, announces his long-awaited debut album El Cantante Del Ghetto, set for release on May 9th.

While he has been teasing details of the album on social media, last night, the Medellin native officially unveiled the cover art, representing the culture of his hometown and the rise of his career, from street busking to global stardom. In conjunction with the announcement, he also releases the album’s title track, a salsa single alongside COQE and La Eterna, a tribute to Puerto Rican salsa icon, Hector Lavoe.

Castro’s upbringing in the Pedregal neighborhood in Medellin, Colombia is what inspired his forthcoming studio album, and is set to fortify the purpose he's kept strong throughout his career of embracing the streets, but overcoming its obstacles. The project will showcase his musical essence of dancehall, rap, and reggaeton, all of which have shaped Castro to become the global hitmaker he is today.

Last weekend, Castro made his Coachella debut as a surprise guest during Ludmilla’s Coachella set, which represents an extremely important milestone for his career and further amplifies his status in the U.S. He recently performed at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards in Las Vegas, ahead of the release of El Cantante Del Ghetto.
